Liam Payne was seemingly “trying to escape his hotel room” at CasaSur Palermo by way of the balcony when he fell to his death on October 16, TMZ reports.

After new security footage from the Buenos Aires hotel was released — showing three men carrying the singer through the lobby and towards his room — it is now presumed that Payne was trying to get out of the building one way or another.

A police report obtained by TMZ states that a black New York Yankees hat and a Louis Vuitton bag were found next to Payne’s body following his death.

Neither of these items can be seen on him in the security footage from earlier, suggesting that he put them on when he returned to the room.

Per the report, a hotel employee also found a brown leather bag on the hotel room balcony directly below Payne’s that contained a note reading “For Liam,” with various pills and a bottle of Jack Daniels.

It’s presumed the bag belonged to the former One Direction singer, who seemingly dropped it down to the second floor while trying to escape. It seems that he intended to then jump to the second-floor balcony before climbing down again.

However, that plan seemingly failed when he then lost consciousness and fell to his death from his third-story balcony. He was 31.

Payne was also known for climbing on ledges and using balconies as an escape method.

A source also told TMZ that in mid-September, his bodyguard had locked him in a Florida rental while under the suspicion that the Night Changes singer was in the middle of a drug binge. He then escaped through the balcony using a hose to come down.

This new theory comes just days after footage obtained by the Daily Mail showed that Payne had been in the lobby of the Buenos Aires hotel where he had been “convulsing” due to his drug use.

Per the pictures, the three men, who are presumed to be hotel staff, picked up Payne and took him back to his room. One of them also removed a mirror hanging outside the singer’s door presumably so he wouldn’t trash it like he did his room, per a police report obtained by the outlet.

The hotel has not responded to Page Six’s request for comment and when asked by TMZ, they said “No comment.”

According to the timestamps in the security footage, this all happened just minutes before Payne fell from the balcony of his third-story room.

At the time, a man who identified himself as a manager also called 911 and asked for SAME, Argentina’s medical emergency services.

“We have a guest who is [allegedly] high and drunk; and when he is conscious, he is destroying his room and we need you to send someone, please. We need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if his life is in danger,” the man, identified only as Estaban, told the dispatcher.

“He is in a room that has a balcony and we are scared he might be endangering his life.”

By the time the ambulance arrived, however, Payne had already fatally fallen from the balcony. Three men have since been charged for their alleged involvement in Payne’s untimely death.

An alleged drug dealer and a former hotel employee named Braian Nahuel Paiz were charged with supplying the Story of My Life singer with narcotics. Paiz has denied the claims against him.

The prosecutor’s office also charged Payne’s friend, believed to be Rogelio “Roger” Nores, with negligence for failing to respond to hotel staff’s calls and not telling the singer’s family of his relapse. He has denied abandoning the father of one.

Payne’s official cause of death was determined to be a cranial fracture, as well as internal and external bleeding. A toxicology report also revealed that he had multiple drugs in his system, including cocaine, crack and pink cocaine.

The new footage was released just days after his body was laid to rest in England.

At the time, close friends and family members — including his former One Direction bandmates Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan — came together to pay their respects.
