The band were scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, and were due to perform in North America and Europe for most of 2022.
The beloved group had also pencilled in a visit to Australia at the end of the year, announcing stadium shows in a number of states earlier this month.
Hawkins was found dead in a Colombia hotel room on Friday, reportedly filled with a cache of drugs, at the age of 50.
An ambulance had been called to the hotel after the 50-year-old complained of “chest pain”, but he was unable to be revived.
“The city’s Emergency Regulation Centre received an alert about a patient with chest pain in a hotel located in the north of the city,” the Secretariat of Health said in a statement.
“The District Secretariat of Health regrets the death of this talented and world-famous drummer and sends a message of condolences to his family, bandmates and fans.”
No official cause of death has been released, but prosecutors in Colombia released a statement on Saturday saying toxicological tests on urine from Hawkins’ body preliminarily found 10 psychoactive substances and medicines, including marijuana, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants and benzodiazepines.
A report in a major Colombian newspaper also named heroin as one of the drugs allegedly found in his system.
Local authorities said in a statement: “The cause of death has yet to be established.
“According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.”
According to the Colombian publication Semana, Hawkins’ heart was double the weight of a typical adult male’s when he died.
The publication reported his heart weighed over 600 grams, leaving forensic experts “shocked”. Most men have a heart that weighs between 280 and 340 grams.
Authorities believe that factor played a part in Hawkins’ death, along with a cocktail of 10 drugs found in his system.
The dad-of-two had struggled with drug addiction during his life, overdosing on heroin in 2001 in a horror incident that nearly spelled the end of the legendary rock band.
The band was set to headline Brazilian festival Lollapalooza in the days following Hawkins’ death.
