Big Sean reveals biggest regret about ex Naya Rivera

Naya Rivera’s ex-fiancé, rapper Big Sean, has revealed the one regret he has after the tragic death of the actress.

The ‘Glee’ curse: Is Naya Rivera the latest victim in show’s tragic history?

Naya Rivera’s ex-fiancé Big Sean has said he wishes he’d “never made” the diss track “I Don’t F**k With You” after the actress’s recent accidental drowning.

Speaking toNew York Magazinein an interview published on Tuesday, the rapper, 32, opened up about the death of the Glee star, and how the track had often been associated with her since their very public split in 2014.

“That’s a tough question to answer because I’m still processing a lot of that,” Sean said when asked if he regretted making the tune.

“I don’t feel comfortable talking about it because I want to respect her.

“She’s made such an impact on people, and she’s done so many great things in her life and her career that it was hurtful to even have that (song) be associated with her,” he said.

In fact, Sean said that the song “wasn’t a diss to her” at all.

He had even played the track to her, claiming that she liked it.

“She knew about it, and she liked it,” he said. “We had a break-up that was very public, and we were young and we forgave each other and moved on from that. If I would have known something tragic would have happened, I would never have made the song.”

Sean and Rivera began dating in 2013, becoming engaged in October that year.

In April 2014, Sean broke off the engagement, saying it was a “difficult decision”.

Three months later Rivera was married to Ryan Dorsey, with whom she had son, Josey, 4.

In 2018, Rivera and Dorsey finalised their divorce.

In a tragic turn of events, Rivera accidentally drowned in July this year while swimming with Josey at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. Five days later her body was recovered in the lake.

The lake has strong currents and it is believed that the Glee star managed to get her son onto their boat however was unable to save herself from drowning.

A few days following her death, Sean shared a tribute to his ex-fiancé, saying he was “grieving and in shock”.

“Rest in peace Naya, God bless your soul! Thank you for blessing us all with your talent and presence.

“You are a hero! Not just because of how you saved your son, also because of the barriers you knocked down for so many people to make them feel confident in themselves and to stand tall and be proud when they couldn’t achieve that on their own,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I appreciate and cherish everything that ever happened between us for making me wiser and a better person.

“I’m still grieving and in shock. I can’t believe this is real. I’m praying for you and your family and I know your (sic) watching over them and protecting them. Rest in peace Naya.”

Dorsey made similar sentiments after learning her fate.

Sharing a photo of Rivera and Josey cuddling on the beach, he wrote: “This is so unfair … there’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts.

“I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I will ever believe it.

“You were just here … We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair. I don’t know what to say.”
