Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman reports for jail sentence
Felicity Huffman is now behind bars after surrendering herself to begin a jail sentence over the college admissions scandal.
TV actress Felicity Huffman has reported to prison to begin serving a 14-day sentence for her role in the national college admissions bribery scandal.
“Felicity Huffman reported today for sentencing to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, CA.,” a representative for the actress said in a statement.
“Ms. Huffman is prepared to serve the term of imprisonment Judge Talwani ordered as one part of the punishment she imposed for Ms. Huffman’s actions. She will begin serving the remainder of the sentence Judge Talwani imposed — one year of supervised release, with conditions including 250 hours of community service — when she is released,” the statement added, referring to Boston federal Judge Indira Talwani, who sentenced the former Desperate Housewives star last month.
Huffman pleaded guilty in May to paying now-notorious admissions fixer Rick Singer $15,000 to have her college-age daughter’s SAT scores jacked up.
Meanwhile, her Desperate Housewives co-star, Ricardo Chavira, slammed her light prison sentence as “white privilege” — adding that he witnessed similar breaks during his time on the show.
“White Privilege. And I saw Eight years worth of it, so I know what I’m talking about. Accountability and Responsibility don’t mean s**t to these people,” Chavira tweeted on September 13.
Huffman broke down in tears and apologised to her children at her sentencing hearing last month.
“I am sorry to my daughter Sophie, my daughter Georgia, my husband William. I have betrayed them,” Huffman said.
“I can only say I am so sorry, Sophia. I was frightened, I was stupid, and I was so wrong. I am deeply ashamed at what I have done. I have inflicted more damage than I could imagine.”
