Candyman’s neighbour allegedly asasults one of his staffers over parking dispute
THIS was the party footage he didn’t post to Instagram. As near-naked women romped, all hell was breaking loose with a neighbour, cops say.
WHEN the Candyman threw a party for 500 people, not all his neighbours were impressed.
As a live elephant roamed the front yard, dozens of scantily clad women romped in the pool and the night sky was lit up with pyrotechnics, the real fireworks were brewing on the ground.
While tobacco tycoon Travers Beynon was having a ball at his “Candy Mansion” in Helensvale on December 5 his neighbour Debora Lee Cable, parked her car in the street of the exclusive gated estate, sparking a heated dispute with the playboy host.
Beynon, known for his wild lifestyle, claimed his neighbour’s car had obstructed the flow of traffic for guests arriving at the party.
The pair had an argument which was left unresolved.
Two days after the party Cable allegedly parked her car in Beynon’s driveway and deliberately left it there, blocking vehicles at the mansion.
She then allegedly went over to confront him about the parking issues and was asked to leave, which she did but left the vehicle in the driveway.
It’s alleged that Beynon, boss of FreeChoice Tobacco, retaliated by having the vehicle – its tyres allegedly deflated by his son – towed away.
Cable allegedly returned to confront staff at the Candy Mansion and was asked to leave for a second time.
A short time later Cable’s dogs escaped from their compound and wandered on to the Candyman’s grounds and she was asked to leave again when she went to collect them.
Police will allege that a verbal confrontation erupted after Cable abused Beynon and his staff, including the mansion’s human resources manager, Suzanne Riley.
Cable allegedly slapped Ms Riley on the face and grabbed her by the hair before the pair got into a struggle.
Beynon and his son allegedly grabbed Cable by the arms and separated the two women and both parties then called the police.
The bizarre dispute was allegedly caught on film with another Candy Mansion staffer recording it on her phone.
Ms Riley claims she suffered pain, swelling and localised bruising to her face as a result of the incident.
Police charged Cable, 45, with assault occasioning bodily harm and she is due to front court for the first time tomorrow.
A Candyman spokesman said he was unable to comment as the matter was before the court.
