Bruce Willis’ wife has confessed that she’s been in tears over the Christmas period as she struggles to deal with her husband’s tragic illness.

Emma Heming-Willis took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a series of photos to her 904,000 followers as the couple was celebrating 16 years together. She then followed it with a video on her Instagram Stories where she spoke about her state of mind and the actor’s condition.

She revealed that while things have been tough for a while, her struggles were amplified through the holidays and on anniversaries.

Heming-Willis said that she just had a “good cry” with a friend, and spoke about how it’s so important to have someone to trust with your feelings “instead of just bottling them up and putting your best foot forward and just kind of soldiering through stuff, which I have a tendency to do.”

She then gestured at herself, revealing that her appearance was reflective of how she had been feeling on the inside over the holiday season.

She continued: “You know, holidays are hard, anniversaries are hard. But for me, this year, it has really been about community, building a community and connection. And I just want to say that has been my lifeline and I just want to thank you for that.”

Heming-Willis paid tribute to her “special” husband on to mark their 16th anniversary.

“16 years with this special man,” the former model captioned an Instagram post accompanied by pictures of the pair sharing a sweet hug, adding: “My love and adoration for him only grows.”

Willis’ family announced in March 2022 that he was stepping away from acting after first being diagnosed with aphasia, which the Mayo Clinic defines as a brain disorder that impacts speech and language comprehension.

A year later, they announced that his aphasia had devolved into frontotemporal dementia.

“While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” they said in a statement on the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration website.

“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know.”

Heming-Willis has said that it is “hard to know” whether Willis is aware of his condition.
