Brooke Shields reveals plastic surgeon threw in ‘little bonus’ during labia surgery without consent
Brooke Shields has revealed she underwent labia surgery during which her male plastic surgeon threw in a ‘little bonus’ without her consent.
Brooke Shields blasted her plastic surgeon for throwing in a “little bonus” during her labia surgery.
The actress explained in her upcoming memoir, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman, that her “wonderful” gynaecologist initially recommended a labia reduction.
The model had experienced discomfort, bleeding and chafing since high school due to the length of her labia.
“Of course, it’s not covered by insurance because it’s considered cosmetic, which is very interesting,” the 59-year-old noted. “The last time I did check, I did not want to be a porn star.”
After Shields went under the knife, she went in for a check-up with her Beverly Hills surgeon — where he “proudly … informed” her of adding “a little twofer” (two-for-one) she had not consented to.
The male doctor had given the Blue Lagoon star a vaginal rejuvenation, which is defined as “decreas[ing] the average diameter of the vagina, mainly for sexual reasons”.
Shields was “dumbfounded” by the “irreversible … invasion,” comparing it to a “rape of some kind”.
She wrote, “Nothing pointed toward this need to be tighter or smaller or firmer or younger, especially there”.
The Golden Globe nominee, who did not tell husband Chris Henchy about the rejuvenation for “the longest time,” felt “shame” over the experience.
However, Shields chose to “share this very intimate information” with her readers despite it being “too graphic or simply TMI”.
She explained, “If we are to change the way we approach and talk about women’s health, then we need to bring up the uncomfortable but very real issues. Shame is no longer an option”.
The Suddenly Susan star hasn’t hesitated from disclosing traumas in the past, revealing in her 2023 Pretty Baby documentary that she was raped in her 20s by a Hollywood executive.

Shields spoke to People in August of the following year about how her and Henchy’s daughters — Rowan, 21, and Grier, 18 — reacted to the release.
Her elder child already knew about the assault, while Grier had “no idea” and felt “helpless” finding out that “something bad” had happened to her mum.
