Britney Spears hits back over interview claiming she ‘may die’

A messy new Britney Spears family drama has exploded, over a damaging article that even her ex-husband is now washing his hands of.

Britney Spears’ high-powered lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, is slamming a “false and defamatory” report linking the singer to crystal meth use.

Page Six learned that Rosengart sent the Daily Mail a legal letter on Sunday — which we reviewed — in which he demands an internal investigation take place concerning the exploitation of using Spears’ minor children, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16, whom she shares with ex Kevin Federline.

“The Daily Mail, through Daphne Barak, posted a story yesterday containing numerous false and defamatory fabrications concerning my client Britney Spears that are attributed to Kevin Federline and his children, in particular regarding ‘crystal meth,’” the letter began.

Rosengart noted that Federline, who was married to Spears, 41, from 2004 to 2007, “acknowledged the falsity of Ms. Barak’s story” when he spoke to TMZ earlier Sunday.

“It saddens our family that Daphne Barak and Erbil Gunasti have decided to fabricate lies and publish the heart ache our family has endured, along with the trauma of our minor children in the Daily Mail and The Sun,” Federline told TMZ.

And Britney herself spoke out on Instagram, writing: “The fact that people are claiming things that are not true is so sad ... This may not even be them saying such things because it doesn’t make any sense to me for them to be saying that …”

Addressing her sons, she writes: “It makes me sad because I tried so hard to make things nice for you and it was never good enough. So you guys go behind my back and talk about me … it breaks my heart and the news is so low … l’ve always felt like the news bullies me … It’s sad because everyone sits back as if that’s ok to make up lies to that extent ...”

It comes as Federline and her estranged father, Jamie Spears, were quoted in a new interview saying that they suspect the singer is on drugs and could die as a result.

“I fear she’s on meth — I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up,” Federline, 45, told the Daily Mail Saturday. “It’s terrifying. She is the mother of my boys.”

“Britney may die like Amy,” Jamie, 70, told the outlet, referencing the English singer, who died of alcohol poisoning at age 27 in 2011 after years of substance abuse.

“Compare her wellness then and how she is doing now,” added the Spears patriarch, whom Britney, 41, accused of abuse during his time as her conservator.

The pop star has not publicly responded to the bombshell interview.

The dire concerns come more than a year after the much-publicised end of Britney’s conservatorship, which controlled nearly every aspect of her life for 13 years.

Her sons, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16, claim to have seen drugs delivered to their mother’s home and are still refusing to visit her, according to the report.

“Every time the telephone rings, I fear that there will be devastating news,” said Federline, who collects a whopping $40,000 in monthly child support from his ex-wife.

“I don’t want the boys to wake up one morning and find their mother has taken an overdose,” the DJ added.

Page Six broke the news last month that Britney gave her kids the green light to move to Hawaii with their dad after Federline threatened to take her to court.

The Grammy winner — who recently deactivated her Instagram account again — is now married to Sam Asghari, with whom she celebrated her first wedding anniversary this week.
