Bindi Irwin and new husband Chandler Powell have shared a video message with fans recorded during their wedding earlier this week.

“Oh my goodness, can you believe it, you’re my husband? We’re married,” Bindi gushes in the video, before turning her attention to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We feel for everybody around the world during this current world crisis. These are such challenging times we’re facing right now, but we have to band together and remember that love always wins.

“Today for our wedding ceremony we couldn’t have our friends and family with us, we could only have a couple of witnesses, Robert walked me down the aisle, due to the current restrictions.

Our message to everyone right now is stay safe, take care of one another, and just truly remember that love conquers all. It feels incredible!”

The video was today posted to charity Animal Planet’s Instagram account:

Earlier this week, the couple shared an intimate snap of their wedding after deciding to get married as strict distancing measures were introduced.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, Bindi revealed that her younger brother, Robert, had walked her down the aisle and that they’d “lit a candle” in honour of her late father, Steve.

“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend,” the happy bride wrote alongside a picture of herself kissing Chandler.

“There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe.

“We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history.”

She added: “Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this - stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!”

Reposting the pic on his Instagram, Chandler wrote: “We’re finally married! Today, March 25, 2020, marks the most amazing day of my life. I married my best friend. After almost a year of planning, we changed everything so that we could enjoy a safe and small private ceremony at our home, Australia Zoo. As we embark on this new life chapter I hope that we can share some love in the world, especially during this challenging time.”

Bindi’s brother Bob had a sweet message of his own as he shared the wedding photo to his Instagram: “This is a day that we will never forget. Bindi and Chandler, words cannot describe how happy and proud I am that today you started your married life and celebrated love during a difficult time for our world. And I was beyond honoured to get to walk Bindi down the aisle today. Even though all of your wedding plans had to change at the last minute to keep everyone safe and healthy, it truly was an emotional and beautifully spontaneous day... I know that Dad was with us, and we are all so delighted for your future as husband and wife. I love you both.”

Strict rules introduced at midnight on Wednesday means weddings will be limited to no more than five people.

The couple’s wedding was live-streamed on 7 News Queensland at Australia Zoo, with a small handful of guests seen at the site via drone footage.

Bindi Irwin was engaged to boyfriend Chandler Powell after he proposed on her 21st birthday at her favourite location in Australia Zoo.

Bindi posted the happy news on Instagram, sharing a photo of her stunning engagement ring.

“July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” she captioned a photo of the couple.

“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness.”
