Bert Newton rushed to hospital with pneumonia

BELOVED entertainer and comedian Bert Newton has been rushed to hospital in Melbourne as he battles a serious bout of pneumonia.

BELOVED entertainer and comedian Bert Newton has been rushed to hospital as he battles a serious bout of pneumonia.

According to The Morning Show,the TV host is now “on the mend” but spent a number of days in a Melbourne hospital to recover after being taken there last week.

The Morning Show’s entertainment reporter Peter Ford revealed Newton’s illness to let everyone “in on the reality” amid rumours Newton and his wife of 43 years Patti were on the verge of splitting up.

The show also shared a photo of Newton in hospital surrounded by his grandkids.

Ford assured everyone the legendary entertainer is now healing but “there’s still ongoing testing to be done and he needs a bit of recovery obviously”.

He also revealed that “Patti was there at his bedside pretty much the entire time he was in hospital”.

This isn’t the first time 78-year-old Newton has had a health scare.

In 2012, Newton underwent a quadruple heart bypass surgery in Melbourne.

The operation, which went for six hours, became a necessity after Newton was admitted to hospital for experiencing chest pains.
