Bella Thorne claims she was the first to join OnlyFans, says others are ‘following in her footsteps’

Months after being forced to apologise to sex workers for her OnlyFans page, Bella Thorne has again sparked outrage by claiming she was the first to join the app.

Bella Thorne is catching heat over her OnlyFans account — again.

The Dirty Sexy Money actress, 23, is stirring up controversy by claiming she is the “first” to have joined the subscription service known for its X-rated content.

“Everyone jumping on OnlyFans but I took the hit for doing it firsttttt coooool,” Thorne wrote on Instagram Stories over the weekend.

She added in a series of posts, “Legit everyone in my newsfeed following in my footsteps. But when I was getting heat y’all were scared. This keeps happening to me hahahah.”

When Thorne joined the app in August, she broke a record by earning US$1.39 million ($A1.9 million) on her first day on the platform.

However, she was criticised shortly after by sex workers on the app, which made pricing changes that financially impacted its content creators. Her big payday caused OnlyFans to cap fan tips at US$100 (A$132) and pay-per-view post charges at US$50 (A$66).

The former Disney Channel star apologised on Twitter, saying, “I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew … behind anything sex related. I wrote and directed a porn against the high brows of my peers and managers because I WANTED to help with the stigma behind sex.”

Now, she’s being slammed on social media for alleging that people are “following in her footsteps”.

One person wrote, “Hey @bellathorne, I’ve been making my living on onlyfans for like a year and a half now after seeing the success other sex workers had been having for quite some time on there. Tell me again how you did it first? Unclear on the timeline.”

Another simply commented, “It’s the audacity for me.”

Prior to Thorne joining the site, other notable names like Cardi B and The Real Housewives of New York star Sonja Morgan were on the platform.

The list of celebrities on OnlyFans continues to grow and includes stars like Tyler Posey, Tyga, Tana Mongeau, Amber Rose and more.
