Alexis Arquette dies aged 47
TRANSGENDER Hollywood actor Alexis Arquette, who had roles in Pulp Fiction and The Wedding Singer, has died aged 47.
TRANSGENDER Hollywood actor Alexis Arquette, who had roles in Pulp Fiction and The Wedding Singer, has died aged 47.
According to gossip site TMZ, Arquette was surrounded by family and friends on her death bed.
Her brother Richmond said she died while listening to David Bowie’s hit Starman.
Arquette, who formerly identified as male, was the sibling of Hollywood stars Patricia, Rosanna and David Arquette.
Paying tribute to her on Facebook, Richmond Arquette said: “I am feeling immense gratitude to have been afforded the luxury of sharing life with him/her, for learning from Alexis, for being given the gift of being able to love him/her.”
He did not reveal the cause of death but said it was “fast and painless”. TMZ reported that she had been battling an illness.
Another gossip site, Radar Online, quoted a source as saying she was in a coma for four days at LA’s Cedars-Sinai hospital and “no one was allowed to see her except for family.”

Arquette, who was born Robert, made her film debut in 1989’s Last Exit to Brooklyn.
She went on to have supporting roles in Pulp Fiction and The Wedding Singer where she played a Boy George impersonator.
The Karma Chameleon singer paid tribute to her on Twitter.

Arquette transitioned from male to female in 2006, documenting the change in a documentary, Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother.
