The embarrassing secret behind Kim Kardashian’s nude Paper Mag shoot

THEY’RE the pictures that sent the internet into meltdown last week. But there’s one piece of gossip from Kim Kardashian’s Paper mag shoot she’d probably prefer you didn’t know.

Not one brand of Champagne wanted to go anywhere near Kim Kardashian’s naked body, famously on display in Paper magazine’s winter issue.

We’re told the fashion magazine — which “broke the internet” by publishing naked photos of the overexposed reality star — approached several high-end Champagne brands to sponsor the issue, given the images contain a bottle of bubbly as part of the voluptuous scene.

The curvy reality star was photographed by French photographer Jean-Paul Goude, and the images are an homage to some of his 1970s photographs of black women. One image includes Kim popping Champagne over her shoulders into a glass resting on her ample rump, a recreation of Goude’s 1976 image “Carolina Beaumont, New York.” In the Kim shot, the Champagne brand is deliberately obscured, because none would lend their name to it, we’re told.

Sources tell us Paper magazine “shopped around to all the Champagne brands to be a sponsor, to be the Champagne bottle in the image,” said a liquor brand insider. “And every one passed.” Another source said flatly, “It’s in poor taste.”

But a rep for Paper explains to us, “Ads for the issue were shopped and presented to brands, liquor and otherwise. It was never shopped as a Kim Kardashian cover issue for purchase.”

Kardashian posed fully nude for reclusive fashion photographer Goude at a secret location in Paris in September. The magazine included the cover line “Break the internet Kim Kardashian,” which indeed she has. On Thursday, papermag.com had 15 million page views when the entire feature went live, and hundreds of memes of the cover have been shared on social media.

“How do you bring a new point of view to the woman who is seen by most on a daily basis?” Paper mag editor Kim Hastreiter wrote in her editor’s letter. “She put her iconic image in the hands of a master, and these gorgeous images show this. Have you ever seen Kim with such a HUGE smile on her face?”
