Madonna was ripped by fans as she was accused of recreating Marilyn Monroe’s death scene.

In the latest V Magazine cover interview, Madonna was seen laying face down on a mattress with her bottom clearly exposed.

An additional shot showed prescription pill bottles on a nearby night stand.

Fans believe the photo is a re-enactment of Marilyn’s tragic death.

The iconic actress was found in dead in her Brentwood, California, home in 1962 and is believed to have overdosed on sedative drugs.

Shortly after Madonna’s photo shoot came out, fans were quick to note that the photo in bed resembled Marilyn on her deathbed.

Many rushed to Twitter to express their outrage over the photos, as pop culture expert Mike Sington tweeted: “For some morbid and eerie reason, Madonna decides to re-create Marilyn Monroe’s death bed.”

‘Gross and inappropriate’

Numerous Twitter users agreed that the photos were uncalled for, as one person responded: “This isn’t cool. Glamorizing suicide is the only takeaway once the shock factor wears off.”

Another added: “Yuck. Gross and inappropriate.”

While one Twitter user said the photos were in “bad taste,” another chimed in: “This makes me queasy.”

The backlash continued as another fan wrote: “I feel sorry for M, she’s embarrassing herself.”

A following person commented: “Must be sad to still need so much attention. And this is so gross.”

Photographer’s inspiration

The photographer for Madonna’s shoot was inspired by Bert Stern’s series The Last Sitting, which is believed to be the final photo shoot that Marilyn participated in.

The photos were taken just six weeks before her death on August 4, 1962 at the age of 36.

In the recent shoot, Madonna bared all as she posed topless and only wore a thong as she laid face down and had a cross on her back.

The Material Girl singer also showed off her cleavage while posing in a bustier as she was surrounded by male bodyguards.

No handouts for Lourdes

The photo shoot comes just weeks after Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, revealed her mother has refused to give her any handouts despite being a multi-millionaire.

While speaking to actress Debi Mazar for Interview magazine, the 25-year-old revealed: “My mum is such a control freak, and she has controlled me my whole life.

“I needed to be completely independent from her as soon as I graduated high school.”

Lourdes has proven she can support herself and has paid her own way through college and for her own apartment.

She continued: “We don’t get any handouts in my family. Obviously, I grew up with extreme privilege. There’s no denying that.

“I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, ‘My kids are not going to be like this.’”
