Five reasons Hillary Clinton needs to be afraid of Monica Lewinsky

HILLARY Clinton should be afraid. She should be very afraid. Monica Lewinsky has broken her silence and it’s not over yet.

Monica Lewinsky is penning an essay about her affair with former President Bill Clinton in a Vanity Fair exclusive. Nathan Frandino reports.

HILLARY CLINTON should be afraid. She should be very afraid.

Monica Lewinsky, the intern US President Bill Clinton admitted to having an “inappropriate relationship” with in the mid-90s, has broken her silence in a new tell-all book.

An excerpt of the article appeared on the Vanity Fair website on Tuesday and the magazine will publish Monica’s full story on May 13.

TELL-ALL BOOK: Monica Lewinsky breaks her silence

Other quotes have made their way into the public from a press release about her book.

Here’s some things Monica has said that should raise alarm bells in Hillary’s camp:

1. Monica is on a roll

If Hillary decides to run, Monica’s shown no sign of shutting up.

She said she’s remained silent during previous Clinton campaigns and decided now was the time to speak out.

“I remained virtually reclusive, despite being inundated with press requests. I put off announcing several media projects in 2012 until after the election. (They were subsequently cancelled — and, no, I wasn’t offered $12 million for a salacious tell-all book, contrary to press reports.)

And recently I’ve found myself gun-shy yet again, fearful of ‘becoming an issue’ should she decide to ramp up her campaign. But should I put my life on hold for another 8 to 10 years?” she wrote.

2. Hillary called her a ‘loony toon’

Monica brought up the files of Hillary’s close friend, Diane Blair, in which the first lady called Monica a “narcissistic loony toon” and in part blamed herself for Bill Clinton’s philandering.

“Yes, I get it. Hillary Clinton wanted it on record that she was lashing out at her husband’s mistress. She may have faulted her husband for being inappropriate, but I find her impulse to blame the Woman — not only me, but herself — troubling. Courageous or foolish, maybe, but narcissistic and loony?” she wrote.

“If that’s the worst thing she said, I should be so lucky,” Monica wrote.

3. The affair ‘was consensual’

Monica wrote that her Oval Office affair with Bill Clinton was consensual.

“Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position,” Monica wrote.

“The Clinton administration, the special prosecutor’s minions, the political operatives on both sides of the aisle, and the media were able to brand me. And that brand stuck, in part because it was imbued with power.”

4. She wants to become a public speaker

Yep, Monica isn’t showing signs of shutting up. She wants to keep talking about her experience.

She makes a point she was “possibly the first person whose global humiliation was driven by the internet, adding she wants “to get involved with efforts on behalf of victims of online humiliation and harassment and to start speaking on this topic in public forums.”

5. She’s determined to right wrongs

The scandal, Monica says, ruined her chance at a normal career and life.

“I turned down (job) offers that would have earned me more than $10 million, because they didn’t feel like the right thing to do,” she wrote.

Now she’s determined to make it right.

“Tiptoeing around my past — and other people’s futures. I am determined to have a different ending to my story. I’ve decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. (What this will cost me, I will soon find out),” Monica wrote.
