Winners and Losers starlet Zoe Tuckwell-Smith takes ethical stand on Logies red carpet
WINNERS and Losers star Zoe Tuckwell-Smith plans to take an ethical stand at the Logies red carpet with sustainable dress.
ZOE Tuckwell-Smith has ensured her Logies dress will make her a winner on the red carpet in more ways than one.
The stunning starlet of Seven's new hit series Winners and Losers will use her new celebrity platform to promote sustainable fashion next Sunday.
With the show not yet eligible to be nominated, the beautiful blonde felt the need for the night to have a bigger purpose other than self-promotion.
"I wanted to be there on behalf of something bigger, which is why I have chosen to take a risk with my dress in order to promote something inspiring," she said.
Tuckwell-Smith will not only wear a sustainable dress, but will have sustainable shoes and will wear second-hand jewellery.
The dress, designed by Georgia McCorkill, is made of "up-cycled" silk georgette: the offcuts of ivory fabrics left over by Melbourne designers, including Mariana Hardwick, and then pieced together using minimal stitching.
McCorkill, who is studying for her PhD in fashion research, said celebrity culture was a significant factor in promoting messages such as sustainable fashion.

"What I am hoping to discover, with Zoe's help, is how you can harness the community's infatuation with celebrity fashion," McCorkill said.
"(Then we can) send out positive messages and encourage an ethical way of living and being."
Tuckwell-Smith added: "I hope it's the way of the future. It's fashion that allows for imperfections, which is a strange concept when wearing it for the red carpet, where the aim is perfection."
