Jimmy Kimmel revealed as Oscars host for 2017, reports
COMEDIAN Jimmy Kimmel is set to take on his biggest hosting role yet — the Oscars.
JIMMY Kimmel will host the Oscars in 2017, it’s been revealed.
Oscars producers are planning to announce that the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live will be front and centre for the 89th Oscars awards show on Feb. 26, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Officials from his network had been lobbying producers to tab their late night funny man, the trade mag said.
After news broke of the impending announcement, Kimmel took to Twitter to confirm the story.
Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank. And if it is, my revenge on @TheAcademy will be terrible & sweet. Thx to @alsformalwear

This would be Kimmel’s first time on the Oscars, though he’s hosted the Emmys twice — in 2012 and this past September.
While he received positive reviews for hosting this year’s Emmys, ratings fell to their lowest point yet.
The 2016 Oscars were hosted by Chris Rock, attracting 34.3 million viewers — which was an 11-year low for Hollywood’s biggest show.
