How does Richard ‘Dick’ Pope feel about being called ‘Dick Poop’ by the Academy president?
THE Oscar nominee who was mistakenly called ‘Dick Poop’ by the Academy President has responded to all the fuss over the embarrassing flub.
IT’S the new “Adele Darzeem” and everyone’s favourite Oscar nomination.
Twitter has exploded after Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs accidentally referred to cinematographer Dick Pope as “Dick Poop” while announcing his nomination for his work on period drama Mr Turner.

Ms Boone Isaacs quickly corrected herself after the mistake, but struggled to retain her composure — along with the rest of the audience and media who couldn’t help but let out a few giggles.
But now the question on everyone’s lips is, how does the esteemed 67-year-old cinematographer feel about his mangled new name?
Luckily, Pope responded to the flub with a good-spirited sense of humour, telling USA Today: “You know what, I have been called a lot worse in my time,” he said.
“I don’t think twice about anything like that. I am happy to be nominated. We’re all very happy. It’s wonderful news. But I represent a whole company and the whole film. I represent the people who work on it. We are all very pleased. Delighted.”
He also confirmed he was aware of all the reaction on Twitter, despite not knowing what “trending” was all about.
“You don’t need to explain it to me. I have had it explained one hundred times,” Dick added.
“I feel sorry for the lady who made the mispronunciation. I have never been on Twitter and I don’t know what trending means,” he admitted.
“I am completely naive. All I know is that I have a lot of emails here saying I am trending on Twitter. They might as well be saying I am landing on the moon, as far as I am concerned.”
It quickly became the Internet’s favourite new joke.”
But upon being informed by the LA Times that he had become a trending Twitter topic, he had some harsher words about the internet.
“If that’s what people talk to each about on [Twitter], I would never be on it. Not if it’s that level of intelligent conversation.”
But his comments didn’t stop thousands upon thousands of users from continuing the joke.
And for Richard Pope, today is the day he inevitably relives the worst four years of his high-school life. #DickPoop

The flub comes after John Travolta accidentally called singer Idina Menzel “Adele Darzeem” on stage at last year’s Oscars, sparking a similar reaction.
This is the second Oscar nomination for Richard ‘Dick’ Pope, who was also nominated in 2007 for his work on The Illusionist.
Ms Boone Isaacs is the third woman and first African American to serve as the head of the Academy.
