America stunned to discover Hollywood hunk is an Aussie
Oscars viewers thought they knew everything about this Hollywood hunk from one of the world’s biggest shows — until he opened his mouth.
Jacob Elordi’s been a major star for years thanks to his starring roles in The Kissing Booth and Euphoria – and yet fans have apparently been left stunned to discover a pretty significant detail about him today.
The 24-year-old Brisbane-born actor’s Aussie accent was on full display as he presented the award for visual effects at this year’s Oscars ceremony – and it was clear that plenty of those watching from home had had no idea he wasn’t American.

Elordi broke into Hollywood with his starring role in hit Netflix movie The Kissing Booth in 2020, following it up with two sequels and taking on the role of 18-year-old “psychopath” Nate Jacobs in the wildly-successful HBO hit Euphoria.
Prior to his mainstream roles, his first experience on a Hollywood film set was as an extra in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which was filmed on the Gold Coast, and in 2018 appeared as Rooster in Aussie film Swinging Safari, starring Guy Pearce and Kylie Minogue.
