'Dick Poop' nominated for an Oscar

DICK Pope became was the most talked about man in the world when the Oscar nominations were announced just over a month ago ... but for all the wrong reasons.

When Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced Pope’s nomination for Best Cinematography for his work on period drama Mr Turner, she accidentally called him “Dick Poop”.

The naughty name started trending on Twitter almost immediately but Pope shrugged off the mishap at the time, saying, “I don’t think twice about anything like that”.

But in the weeks that have past since the nominations ceremony, Pope’s attitude has changed slightly and he’s now convinced that he’s “owed” an Oscar.

“I think they should just give it to me and forget the competition,” joked Pope tonews.com.au at the Great British Film Reception in LA.

“They owe it to me really for getting my name wrong. Even if it’s a small replica … a tiny half-sized replica. They should give me one.”

Pope was just one of the British Oscar nominees who attended the reception at the London West Hollywood hotel.
