IN 2004, the rumour mill went into overdrive after Sophie Monk collapsed on the red carpet at the Logies. Fourteen years on, she’s finally revealed what really happened.

SOPHIE Monk’s infamous collapse on the red carpet at the Logies in 2004 sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

After fainting on her way into the venue, the Bachelorette star had to be carried out and taken back to her hotel room. At the time, Monk’s publicist simply said she “wasn’t feeling well” but there was plenty of speculation that the episode had been caused by an eating disorder or other health issue.

Fourteen years later, Monk has finally set the record straight.

“It was my own fault,” she told The Fix . “I was a little bit too big for the dress, and they couldn’t zip it up. So, they said just go in the sauna and come out every 15 minutes, and do that for a while. But they didn’t tell me to drink water.”

Of course, that was a recipe for disaster.

“So, I walked down the carpet and passed out,” Monk explained. “I got wheeled out, and I made more headlines than anyone who won a Logie, so I won in that way, I guess. It came up on every network saying, ‘Warning! Sophie’s passed out at the Logies!’ I was like, ugh, way to make an entrance.”

The singer and actress added that it was frustrating not to be able to speak out about it back then.

“Nowadays, with social media, you can talk, but back then I couldn’t explain what happened,” Monk said. “So, they were just saying it was food [related] or whatever, which it wasn’t. It was just purely I was an idiot getting in a sauna.”
