‘Disappointed’ Jessica Marais pulls out of Logies
GOLD Logie nominee Jessica Marais is “naturally disappointed” to not be attending this year’s award ceremony on the Gold Coast.
GOLD Logie nominee Jessica Marais has pulled out of attending this year’s award ceremony, citing health reasons.
In a statement to The Daily Telegraph, Marais’ management confirmed she would not be going because of her health, but did not give further detail.
Adding that The Wrong Girl star was “naturally disappointed” to not be attending, the statement ended by asking the media to respect her privacy.
Marais was due to attend the Logies this Sunday after being nominated for the Gold Logie for most popular personality and Silver Logie for best actress.
The nominations were for her work on The Wrong Girl and Love Child, which have since both been scrapped from TV lineups.
The Packed To The Rafters star has been candid about her past battles with mental health, opening up about the issue just days ago in an interview with TV Week.
“I just think it’s important to talk about depression,” she told the publication.
“It’s nothing to be ashamed of. And the more we talk about it as a community, the more we can remove the stigma.”
Marais has three Logie wins under her belt, taking home the award for Most Popular new Female Talent in 2009 and Most Popular Actress in 2016 and 2017.
