All you need to know about the 2022 Logie Awards
The Logie Awards are finally back after a two-year break – so who’s up for all the biggest awards in Australian television?
The 62nd TV Week Logie Awards are just days away, after Covid forced the awards into a two-year break.
And comedian Tom Gleeson could continue his two-year reign of Gold Logie terror, with the acerbic funnyman once more up for the night’s biggest award. He joins popular presenters including MasterChef’s Melissa Leong, Today’s Karl Stefanovic and I’m A Celeb’s Julia Morris vying for the Gold Logie.
BINGE’s first Australian-made original, the romantic six-part series Love Me, scored the most nominations of any drama this year with seven nominations including Most Outstanding Drama Series and Most Popular Drama Program.
And this year sees the advent of a brand new award, in honour of late TV legend Bert Newton: the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.
“We are so thrilled Bert is being recognised this way and will be part of the Logies every year moving forward. It was such a big part of his career and he just loved it, so I know he would be pretty pleased with this honour,” said Bert’s widow Patti.
Here's everything you need to know about Australian TV's biggest awards show:
When's it on?
It takes place this Sunday, June 19, within The Star Gold Coast Entertainment Precinct. Red carpet arrivals start at 4pm, with highlights airing on Nine at 7pm before the ceremony screens live from 7:30pm. News.com.au have got you covered too -we'll be giving you live coverage of the red carpet and all the highs and lows of the ceremony.
Who's hosting and performing?
Seems like Nine are opting for a safe bet rather than hiring any controversial comics to host: This year, hosting duties will be divided between newsreader Leila McKinnon, Today Extra host David Campbell and entertainment reporter Renee Bargh. Jimmy Barnes, Jessica Mauboy and Tim Minchin will all perform during the ceremony.
