THE nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards were announced overnight, but many were left confused by one noticeable absence — Adele.
THE nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards were announced overnight, but many were left confused by one noticeable absence — Adele.
The British singer/songwriter was completely shut-out of this year’s nominations, despite smashing records and garnering plenty of critical praise with her third album, 25, following its release on November 20.
Fans have been fretting over the perceived snub on Twitter since the nominations were revealed.

But the reason the Hello singer missed out on any Grammy nods is simple — her latest album wasn’t eligible as it missed the cut off.
The Grammys have an eligibility period that cuts off the last few months of the calendar year, meaning that only releases dropped between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015 can qualify for the 2016 ceremony.
This is why Taylor Swift’s 1989 album is nominated for album of the year this year, while Shake It Off, her hit single off the album, was nominated for song of the year last year.
The 2017 ceremony will most likely see Adele dominate, as well as Justin Bieber’s new stuff from his fourth album, Purpose.
The 58th Grammy Awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on February 15.
