Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s raunchy Grammys performance attracts backlash
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s racy Grammys performance has divided Twitter, with many deeming it “inappropriate” for live TV.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s Grammys performance has attracted fierce backlash from viewers claiming it was far too risque for live television.
The standout performance of yesterday’s awards ceremony was undoubtedly the pair’s live rendition of WAP, complete with plenty of gyrating and a very racy moment between the two women on a giant bed.
But while a number of fans took to Twitter to praise the spectacle at the time, many have since lashed the performance as “trashy”.

Despite host Trevor Noah’s pre-performance warning to viewers — and the fact that the song’s explicit lyrics were censored — many took to Twitter to call out the artists, as well as CBS, for airing the“inappropriate” production.
“I am mortified for all who just witnessed what has happened to our society … unacceptable!!” one particularly affronted viewer wrote.
“All joking aside, how is this appropriate to watch on CBS?” another asked.
One more said the artists — including Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion, who took home three awards on the night — should be “ashamed” of themselves.

"Expressing their sexuality"?

No personal offense, but have you been desensitized by social media? These acts are okay in their appropriate confines. Yet to broadcast them on public TV to the world? No. Some of us still have values & care what our children see & might emulate.
Cardi B and Megan The Stallion are disgusting, they should be ashamed. Absolutely sick thatâs allowed on prime time TV. #GrammysSoMessy#CardiB#MeganTheeStallion

This performance was trashy for a show that is supposed to be family friendly.

Plenty of fans jumped in to defend Cardi and Megan, applauding the expression of female sexuality and condemning the “misogynistic” protests.
“To the people calling Cardi B and Megan’s performance not family-friendly. Hate to break it to you, but your misogyny is showing. Stop shaming women for being liberated by their sexuality. Stop teaching your kids that women’s bodies should be hidden in order to be taken seriously,” one wrote.
“Seeing a lot of ppl slam @theestallion/@iamcardib‘s performance. 1) Dont want ur kids seeing that? Be a parent & dont let ur kids see that 2) “What if that was ur daughter?” At the top of their game in the field of their choice, paid, happy, at the #GRAMMYs? Im proud of u, honey.,” another tweeted.
In her Grammy’s debut, Megan took to the stage first to perform her hit Savage before Cardi made an epic entrance on a stripper pole, which also happened to be part of a giant stiletto heel.
Cardi wore a futuristic metal two piece with large shoulder blades. She had her hair cropped shorter than we’ve ever seen it.
Megan and Cardi B then made their way to a giant bed on stage, and boy did things get X-rated fast as the pair gyrated to the explicit song.
Back up dancers mimicked the raunchy dance moves, throwing it back for the gobsmacked viewers.
Despite it being an extremely erotic performance, the song was censored to remove all of its expletives.
As expected, people went crazy for the moment on Twitter at the time.

The Grammys usually provide one of award season’s more colourful red carpets — even amid the scaled-back award shows of the pandemic.
Stars like Doja Cat and Dua Lipa opted for plunging gowns at the Grammys — but what on earth was Miley’s little sister Noah Cyrus wearing?
