Adele blasts her dad in Grammys acceptance speech, announcing she doesn’t love him

Adele disses father in Grammys acceptance speech: 'I don't love my dad!'

IT started out as a grateful nod to her longtime manager, but Adele’s Record of the Year acceptance speech at the Grammys quickly spiralled into a very personal dig at her father.

The Hello singer, who swept the categories she was nominated in during the awards ceremony yesterday, took time out to thank Jonathan Dickins, who she credits as the “mastermind” behind her comeback.

“Thank you to my manager because the comeback, as it were, was completely masterminded by him. And you executed it incredibly, and I owe you everything,” she began. “We’ve been together for 10 years, and I love you like you’re my dad. I love you so, so much. I don’t love my dad, that’s the thing. That doesn’t mean a lot.”

It’s been well-documented for years that Adele’s father reportedly left her and her mother when she was just three years old.

In case there was any doubt remaining over her true feelings, the singer clarified in her speech, “I love you like I would love my dad.”

Adele also left viewers stunned after receiving Album of the Year for 25, over Beyonce’s Lemonade — a decision even she disagreed with.

In an emotional speech closing the mammoth award ceremony, Adele declared the award truly belonged to Beyonce, who was standing just metres away in the front row.

“I can’t possibly accept this award,” a tearful Adele announced.

“I’m very grateful and very gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyonce, and this album for me ... the Lemonade album was so monumental, well thought out and so beautiful and soul-baring. We all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that. All us artists here f**king adore you.

“You are our light. The way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering. You make them stand up for themselves, and I love you. I always have, and I always will,” she told Beyonce, who herself was fighting back tears.
