Rosamund Pike revealed she got into a scary ski accident over Christmas ahead of her red carpet moment at the 2024 Golden Globes.

The “Saltburn” star graced the carpet in a black Dior Haute Couture gown and matching headpiece that she called a “protective veil” in an interview with Variety’s Marc Malkin.

“I had an accident over Christmas — I had a skiing accident and I had to think, you know, not what you want when you’re coming to the Golden Globes on the seventh of January,” Pike, 44, said.

“So on the 26th of December, my face was entirely smashed up,” she continued. “And I thought I need to protect I need to do something.

Pike shared that the injury had healed but she had decided to wear the headpiece anyway.

Pike was nominated for one award, Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for “Saltburn.”

She lost out to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role The Holdovers.

Saltburn has been met with critical acclaim and has also put Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 23-year-old song “Murder on the Dancefloor” back on top of the British charts thanks to a scene featuring Barry Keoghan nude.

The 81st Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel following an A-list red carpet spectacle on Monday.

Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki emerged as an early winner in the TV category, taking home Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown. Debicki managed to beat a tough field including Meryl Streep (Only Murders in the Building) and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso)

Fellow Aussie Sarah Snook was the recipient of one of the biggest honours of the night, Best Actress in a drama, for her incredible performance in the final season of Succession.

Meanwhile in film, while billion-dollar smash Barbie led the way with nine Golden Globe nominations, box office frenemy Oppenheimer was the most triumphant, with Robert Downey Jr. causing an upset by beating Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor.

The atomic bomb thriller also won the top gong - Best Picture - and saw Christopher Nolan take out Best Director, which marks the famed filmmaker’s first Globe win.

Unsurprisingly, the incredible Cillian Murphy was crowned Best Actor for portraying scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer in the three-hour long epic.

Australia’s own Margot Robbie was nominated for Best Actress in a musical or comedy for Barbie, but was ultimately pipped by Emma Stone (Poor Things).

But it wasn’t all a loss for Barbie, which took home the inaugural Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award and Best Original Song for Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For?.
