Best and worst-dressed celebrities at the 2020 Golden Globes
The Golden Globes red carpet hosted some glamorous hits and a few awful misses, but none more so than Gwyneth Paltrow’s “hideous” gown.
It’s the New Year and in tinseltown that means one thing: Awards season.
The first in a long line-up of ceremonies is the Golden Globes, which was held today.
Considered a precursor for the Oscars, Renee Zellweger and Joaquin Phoenix won the top honours at the ceremony, which you can read a recap of here.
But before winners were announced we hit the red carpet.
After airing on Foxtel earlier, here are some of the best and worst looks at this year’s event in Beverly Hills.
Normally a fashion muse, Gwyneth Paltrow wore a brown frilly see-through number which Twitter users were having a field day with. Some used the word “tragic”, others “hideous”.
We’re currently trying to page her stylist as we have some serious questions.
Hustlers nominee Jennifer Lopez refused to believe Christmas was over (same), dressing up as a human present fit with giant golden bow.
But given the 50-year-old has garnered significant Oscars buzz for her role as Ramona in the hyped movie, we thought she’d bring us more of an iconic moment on the red carpet at the Globes this year.
JLo arrived with her doting partner, Alex Rodriguez.
Nominee for Bombshell and Aussie darling Margot Robbie was glowing in Chanel.
The 29-year-old sported blonder hair and natural makeup, teamed with a multi-coloured strapless sequined top with fresh white skirt from her go-to designer.
Marriage Story nominee Scarlett Johansson gave old Hollywood glamour vibes in red.
Renee Zellweger won the red carpet and (hopefully) Best Actress for Judy. Go home everyone else.
Reese Witherspoon was fresh in white.
Nicole Kidman proved why we still talk about her red carpet looks from years ago in a timeless red frock.
Fellow Australian Cate Blanchett showed why she’s a style pioneer in this unique lemon number.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas were every bit the hot couple.
If you say anything remotely negative about Taylor Swift you will receive hate mail via your private Facebook account. So we’ll just leave this here.
Salma Hayek. Don’t move.
Saoirse Ronan was a standout in slinky silver.
Rising actress and nominee Joey King was the must unsually dressed, wearing a bizarre optical illusion dress.
And it looked even stranger from behind.
Brad Pitt as handsome as ever.
Billy Porter continued his wild fashion legacy in an all-white suit fit with feather train which took three months to make.
Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher bring a pop of colour to the carpet in this ultimate power couple look.
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan could suffer a wardrobe malfunction at any moment with this plunging neckline.
Sofia Vergara in figure hugging red. No words.
And here with her actor hubby, Joe Mangianello.

Australia’s own Naomi Watts is demure in black.
This year’s host Ricky Gervais avoiding human interaction in sunglasses as he prepared to give a savage introduction. No one was safe.

Big Little Lies’ Zoe Kravitz somehow managed to make a very confused dress look chic.
Helen Mirren was in regal red.

Her co-host Ryan Seacrest stepped it up with a dark blue velvet jacket.
Cynthia Erivo, nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her role in Harriet, sparkling in a black and white tuxedo-style gown.
Andrew Scott, aka the hot priest from Fleabag, was our standout among the blokes in a white tux, bow tie and high waisted pants.
Reality star Kristin Cavallari looked gorgeous in white, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgiven her for her biff with Lauren Conrad on The Hills a decade ago.
Ex Bond Pierce Brosnan copied the KFC guy’s facial hair.
Little Women director Greta Gerwig, robbed of a Best Director award nod, opted for trusty monochrome.
Child star Julia Butters, 10, who had her breakout role in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, looked more expensive than we ever will.
