Female-led shows the big winners at 2017 Emmys
BIG Little Lies, The Handmaid’s Tale and Veep were the biggest winners at this year’s Emmys, proving it’s been a bumper year for women in television.
THE 69th Emmy Awards are over, in a night that saw no real upsets and few surprises among those taking out the big awards.
It was a great night for women, with female-led series including Big Little Lies, Veep and The Handmaid’s Tale taking out many of the major trophies.

With few shocks in the winners’ announcements, it was left to host Stephen Colbert to ruffle a few feathers — and he did so with a blistering opening monologue including a special guest star who left Hollywood’s A-listers reeling.
