‘Buckle your seatbelts’: Andy Samberg to host the 2015 Emmy Awards
FOX has named the comedian who will host the 2015 Emmy Awards, marking the first time the funnyman has hosted a major television event.
ANDY Samberg has been named as the host of the 2015 Emmy Awards.
Fox announced Thursday that Samberg, star of the network's sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will host the ceremony in September. This will be the first time the actor and comedian has hosted a major television event.
“Buckle your seatbelts, Emmy viewers,” the 36-year-old said in a statement. “Like, in general you should buckle your seatbelts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seatbelt. It can be dangerous on the road.
“Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seatbelts.”
Samberg, who takes over from last year’s host Seth Meyers, took home a 2014 Golden Globe for his work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and also won an Emmy for writing Saturday Night Live tune “D*ck in a Box.”
