Emma Watson tops AskMen’s Most Outstanding Women for 2015
NOW this is a list we can get behind. A men’s website has put together a list of women that for the first time actually isn’t a total insult.
NOW this is a list we can get behind.
After curating its famous Top 99 Most Desirable Women feature for almost 15 years, AskMen decided to shift the focus this year to instead shine a light on “what makes women outstanding in their own right”.
One million reader votes were cast internationally and topping the mantle of the new 99 Most Outstanding Women list is none other than feminist, scholar, actress and all round awesome chick Emma Watson.
She is followed by the equally admirable wrestling powerhouse Ronda Rousey, socialite-turned-entrepreneur Kim Kardashian, music phenomenon Taylor Swift, and World Cup alpine ski champion Lindsey Vonn. Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, medical entrepreneur
Elizabeth Holmes and plus-sized model Ashley Graham also make the list.
“This year’s list is not only a reflection of a shift in the media, but also a shift in modern male thinking,” said James Bassil, AskMen Publisher. “We wanted to steer away from ‘hot’ lists and highlight women who have demonstrated a sheer influence in their industry. We were looking for women who are doing something new this year, something that demonstrates their versatility and raw talent.”
How very refreshing and to be honest, overdue.
Unfortunately only one Aussie made the list in singer Sia at 52 but it’s an oversight we are willing to overlook in lieu of the greater good.
