RIDING high on her Oscar victory, Cate Blanchett has dropped the F-bomb during a live press conference on CNN.
The Melbourne-born actress let the F-word slip after an Australian journalist pointed out that she was the first Australian actor to win two Academy Awards.
The Oscar winner wryly responded, “And don’t you f-----g forget it.” as the room erupted in laughter.
Earlier during her acceptance speech, Blanchett won the best actress Oscar for Blue Jasmine, thanking controversial director Woody Allen “for casting me”.
Some commentators suggested her chances of winning would be scuppered by the open letter penned by Allen’s adopted daughter Dylan, which alleged he sexually abused her.

And signs were ominous in the lead- up to the award, with Gravity winning most of the major categories – including director, sound and cinematography.
But Academy voters didn’t allow their distaste for the scandal to affect their judgement, handing Blanchett her second Oscar, after her first win for best supporting actress in The Aviator.
The actress looked emotional as she took to the stage, receiving her award from Daniel Day-Lewis.
“I’m so very proud that Blue Jasmine stayed in cinemas as long as it did,” she said. “Thank you so much Woody for casting me. I truly appreciate it.”
“As random and subjective as this award is, it means a great deal,” she said on stage, paying tribute to her fellow nominees Amy Adams (“You blew my mind”) and noting that she could watch Sandra Bullock’s Gravity over and over.
She also gave a light-hearted shout out to Julia Roberts saying “hastag suck it!”.
And she pointed out that “female-focused films are NOT niche. And they make money! The world is round, people.”
The actress thanked her “three wonderful sons” and husband Andrew Upton, who beamed proudly when Blanchett described him as “a legend”.
Blanchett also singled out her Blue Jasmine co-star Sally Hawkins as well her colleagues at the Sydney Theatre Company, describing it as one of the world’s great theatre companies.
“There is so much talent in Australia,” she said.
“CM (Catherine Martin) and I are just the tip of the iceberg.’’
It is the second Academy Award win for Blanchett and followed fellow Aussie Catherine Martin’s two Oscars for her work on The Great Gatsby.
Blanchett was the white hot favourite for the actress Oscar, despite competing against high-calibre nominees Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Meryl Streep (August: Osage County), Judi Dench (Philomena) and Amy Adams (American Hustle).
Martin won the costume design and production design Oscars, giving her four career Academy Awards, eclipsing another costume designer, Orry George Kelly, who was the Australian record-holder with three for An American in Paris, Cole Porter’s Les Girls and the Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon comedy Some Like it Hot in the 1950s and `60s.
Martin shared her production design Oscar with The Great Gatsby set decorator Beverley Dunn.
Earlier in the ceremony, Allen missed out on the original screenplay Oscar for Blue Jasmine, with Spike Jonze taking the honour for Her.
