Channel 10 star Carrie Bickmore has candidly revealed her last-minute wardrobe mishap shortly before hitting the red carpet for tonight’s AACTA awards ceremony.

Standing alongside fellow hosts of The Project while being interviewed before the event, Bickmore told cameras she was almost forced to wear a shirt and jeans after finding the back of her green dress had been torn.

“My dress just broke,” she said from the red carpet.

“I ripped my dress before, about half an hour before we came and the dress went to the tailor and the only other thing I had to wear was jeans and a shirt.

“So I thought, it would be funny if I had won and I had to rock up (for a speech) in my jeans and shirt.”

Co-star Hamish Macdonald chimed in with a joke, telling viewers his colleague was in a state trying to deal with the mishap.

“She‘s been swearing all the time. She’s been swearing how stressful this was, but we have calmed her down and it is all going to be OK,” he said.

The Project has been nominated for the Best Factual Entertainment Program, while Bickmore is in the running for Australia‘s Favourite TV Host.

“I don‘t think we’re going to win,” Bickmore said.

“We’re up against amazing shows.”

Stand-in host Rove McManus asked the group who would be getting the rowdiest as the afterparty. Macdonald was adamant it would be he oldest of the bunch.

“We all know it’s Lisa Wilkinson. It‘s always the way,” he said.

Carrie Bickmore said she had a last-minute malfunction before heading to the red carpet.
