What other countries will Australia have a travel bubble with?
Apart from New Zealand, Australia could have a travel bubble with Singapore by July, 2021. Under the plan, vaccinated Australians and Singaporeans would be able to travel freely for work, study or holiday purposes without the mandated two-week hotel quarantine.
This agreement could also see Singapore become the intermediary country for stranded Australians who still need make there way back home. Under this policy, travellers could complete their mandated two-week quarantine in Singapore before entering Australia.
What is the COVID-19 vaccine passport?
Tipped to be the future of travel, this means people embarking on international flights would have to prove that they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to embarking. This could look like a digital or physical certificate and a similar concept could also be applied for large in-person events, festivals or even schools.
When it comes to compulsory requirements to get the jab before travelling, Aussie airline Qantas have announced that passengers will have to be vaccinated before overseas travel. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) are also working to develop a singular system which correlates the test and vaccination results of all passengers and makes this information avaiable to airlines and government bodies.
