The Boxing Day sales offer an opportunity to pick up top electronics at heavily reduced prices, making it an ideal time to check out the latest TV models.

The sales also see older television models and models by less expensive brands go for record low prices; so those after an affordable TV model can get more bang for their buck.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LED, OLED AND QLED?

LED TVs are typically the most budget-friendly smart TVs you can buy. However, they tend to have lower colour accuracy and lack the true blacks found in OLED TVs, resulting in less contrast and affecting picture quality.

OLED TVs are meanwhile more expensive than LED and QLED TVs – but, if you’re after exceptional picture quality for watching your favourite movies, OLED is the way to go. OLED TVs have individual pixels that are self-lit, producing perfect blacks and incredible contrast.

QLED sits somewhere in between the two, using traditional LCD panels lit by LEDs with an added quantum dot technology layer. This screen technology produces a wider range of colours and offers better overall brightness compared to OLED. However, they also have less accurate black tones.

Essentially, if you’re looking for the best picture quality available, OLED TVs are your best option. If you want a brighter display that’s more budget-friendly, QLED could be a better choice. If you’re looking for the best TV prices and a wide range of screen sizes, LED models are meanwhile worth a look in.
