Raising a dog is truly not for the weak. Behind the cute and fluffy look is a needy animal that requires a lot of time, energy and care.

Although being a dog parent is incredibly exciting and rewarding, it can be exhausting and really test your patience – take it from me, I have two dogs!

Thankfully though, there are many products out there that can help make taking care of your fur baby easier.

Whether you’re a current dog mum or a soon-to-be dog mum, I’ve compiled a list of products I use regularly that helps keep my fur babies and I at ease.

The top product I always highly recommend is the viral Afloia Dog Grooming Vacuum Kit that has over 500 five-star ratings. This versatile machine comes with everything you could possibly need to achieve a salon-quality groom at-home, which is a massive time and money-saver.

There’s also the popular Bell and Bone Dental Sticks that are a healthy alternative to other dental treats in the market and the Furbo 360° Dog Camera that is essential for keeping an eye on your pup while you’re at work, travelling or running errands.

As someone with two anxious pups, trips to the groomer have never really been an option for us considering the strangers (groomers) and the loud sounds from the tools would be enough to set them off.

Giving them a groom always involved my trusty scissors in one hand and a treat in the other, which often resulted in janky, uneven cuts for Pomi. However, bad haircuts are a thing of the past since using this Afloia Dog Grooming Kit.

This all-in-one grooming kit and vacuum allows me to achieve salon-quality grooms in the comfort of my own home – which has been an absolute game changer.

It’s built with a 1.5L dust bin to capture all the fur and comes with a grooming brush, a cleaning brush, vacuum nozzle for crevices, wireless clippers with six different sized guards, a nail grinder attachment and a paw clipper attachment – say what?!

The vacuum has three power options and although it’s said to make low noise, I will say it definitely is a bit loud even on the lowest setting so do be mindful as it could still scare your pups. Thankfully though, Pomi is slowly getting used to it. I also love that it comes with an instruction manual and dustbag for easy storage.

It’s a brilliant invention that helps anxious pet owners like me manage their pets’ fur without the high price tag and worry.

If you’re after a high-tech and smart pet camera to keep an eye on your furry friend when you’re out and about, I highly recommend this one by Furbo.

With two dogs, I tend to worry about my girls when I’m at work, overseas or even just running errands, and the Furbo gives me peace of mind.

It has a sleek and minimal design that effortlessly blends into your furniture and 1080p video quality which makes it easy to see your pets clearly, plus you can zoom in too.

It can rotate 360 degrees and has cool features like treat toss (my personal favourite), night vision, two-way audio and real-time notifications of what your pet is doing i.e. walking, barking, laying down, sleeping and more.

What makes the Furbo 360 degree + Nanny Bundle even more incredible is the Nanny subscription and the features that come with it.

You can chat with Nanny to get answers on any pet-related questions, receive a daily Nanny report that monitors your pups’ daily activity, health and behavioural patterns, a ‘Calm My Pet’ feature that plays calming music and rewards your pup with a treat once they’ve calmed down.

This camera is seriously such a game changer for pet owners and has honestly made me feel less worried or guilty when I have to leave them at home.

I never thought I needed a dog seat cover until I tried this brilliant one from Amazon. I try to take my dog Louie for a drive every weekend – whether it’s to the local park or a family member’s house, and every time I do, I keep discovering new things I love about this affordable dog seat cover.

Right now Louie loves the mesh window because it means he can sit up and watch me drive, plus enjoy the aircon too. There’s loads of pockets for storage, the non-slip backing also restricts movement so he’s not sliding around the back of the car. And I also really appreciate the side flaps – they zip up and keep both my car protected and Louie tucked away.

When I say this Shark Cordless Vacuum is the perfect vacuum for pet parents, I truly mean it – it has quite literally changed my life as a dog owner.

It has a really powerful suction and effortlessly sucks up any fur and crumbs in one go, so I didn’t have to run over the same spot multiple times which was incredibly satisfying (goodbye fur!) and it has an Anti-Allergen Filtration System that uses a HEPA filter to trap all the nasties like dust, dander and allergens.

It’s cordless and rechargeable, easy to empty, and can easily transform into a handheld vacuum (which has been helpful for cleaning Pomi and Terra’s beds, inside of cars and hard-to-reach places).

Plus, it has headlights so you can easily see the dust and debris on the floors and a self-cleaning brush roll that doesn’t get tangled with hair.

It comes with a crevice and upholstery attachment, three cleaning modes – hard floor mode, carpet mode and an extra powerful mode, and smooth swivel movement and it’s really easy to use so there’s no guesswork involved for those that aren’t handy like m

I will say though, it can be a little loud – so do keep that in mind and it’s a little more top-heavy than I was expecting.

Overall, I highly recommend this stick vac and it’s 100 per cent worth the price!

Tried and Tested by Harriet Amurao, Shopping Writer

A lickmat is one of my favourite boredom busters for my dogs – all you need to do is smear their favourite soft and liquid treats like yoghurt, wet food, puree or peanut butter and freeze it. Once it’s frozen, your dog will have the time of their life licking it clean – which is mentally stimulating and reduces their boredom and anxiety!

It’s designed with a raised pattern to make it a bit more pleasurable and prolongs the amount of time taken to clean it.

Lickmats are also great for promoting slower eating which ultimately helps reduce bloating and improve digestion.

It’s designed to encourage your pup to use their sense of smell to forage for dry treats or kibble hidden within the mat.

I love spreading their kibble around in the mat and let them sniff away for the goods – keeping them mentally stimulated and occupied.

I like to take a small amount and gently massage the balm onto Pomi and Terra’s paws before bed, and their paw pads will be super soft and smooth in the morning.

Tried and Tested by Harriet Amurao, Shopping Writer

Okay, this isn’t a necessity but I love adding bone broth to Pomi and Terra’s food.

This 100 per cent natural grass-fed beef bone broth by FurFresh is what we personally use as it’s made from human grade Australian and New Zealand grass-fed beef leg bones that is slow cooked to preserve the important nutrients.

Bone broth is great for hydrating your dogs’ dry food as well as encouraging picky pups to eat and drink water. The benefits of bone broth include aiding in joint and bone health, digestion and gut health, and promoting healthy fur, skin and teeth.

Again, this isn’t really a need as I have friends with pets that don’t consume bone broth and they’re perfectly fine, however, my dogs love this stuff!
