No surprises here but we love shopping.
With just a click of a button, you can get everything from the $25 packing cubes that are a “travel essential” to the pair of patent heels you spotted your colleague wearing delivered straight to your door. We love the convenience.
But when you shop for a living (yes, sorry we know our jobs are … hard), it takes something truly amazing to wow us. Look, when you spend your work days sifting through thousands of reviews and testing the best blow dry brush or best-selling activewear, you tend to become picky. Only the best will do!
So when we find something we love, we want to shout about it. And that’s what we’re doing here.
From beauty, fashion to home, travel and tech, here’s what the news.com.au checkout team bought and why they simply can’t live without it.
Happy shopping!
Nineway 9-Set Packing Cubes, $24.99, Amazon
“Everyone tried to talk me out of buying these packing cubes for a recent trip to Germany but, as a chronic overpacker, they were such a good investment. Not only do they save space, but they also allow you to group certain clothing items together (no more digging to the bottom of the suitcase for a clean pair of socks!). I also saved one for my dirty clothes, which made it easier to keep track of everything and ensure my other clothes stayed nice and fresh.” – Lauren Chaplin, news.com.au checkout Consumer Technology Reporter
3 Piece Slick Back Hair Brush Set, $9.95, Amazon
“I love a slicked-back bun for an easy hairstyle that always looks polished. After investing in a good hairspray and pomade I bought these brushes from Amazon and let me say, they’ve changed the game. The comb helps me get the perfect straight part while the large brush helps me pull my hair bag smoothly. The little toothbrush-style brush catches all my flyaways. It’s been a game-changer for achieving the perfect slicked-back bun!” – Hannah Paine, news.com.au checkout Editor
Maison Balzac J’ai Soif Carafe and Glass, $89, Maison Balzac
“This Maison Balzac carafe is my current obsession. My friend bought it for me as a gift and I think it is probably one of my favourite presents ever received. I have it on my desk when working from home and it makes me feel like I have my life together even when I don’t. I love the way the natural light hits it in the morning and it creates the perfect vibe to really get my day started well. Plus, I find myself drinking so much water because a) I can clearly see how much I’ve had, b) I just love it so much so want to use it all the time and c) picking up my glass means I can a get a little glimpse of my Harry Styles coaster underneath.” – Philippa Tonkin, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
lululemon Back to Life Sport Bottle 710ml, $55, lululemon
“I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect water bottle to take to the gym and call off the search guys, I’ve found it. I’m loving this lululemon water bottle for so many reasons: a screw on lid which means it’s leak proof, a small drinking hole so I don’t spill water all over myself (happens more than you think), a convenient handle to carry said bottle or hang keys off, and it’s vacuum insulated so it keeps my drinks ice cold, a must when you’re exercising. It’s also super light and holds 710mls which I find is the right size for workouts. Plus, it’s just an aesthetic water bottle and if black is not your vibe, it comes in a bunch more different colours. It’s my new emotional support water bottle that’s going to last me a long time.” – Melody Teh, news.com.au checkout Deputy Editor
Wittner Loxton Patent Leather Stiletto Heels, $125 (down from $200), THE ICONIC
“These patent leather shoes are the most comfortable work shoes I have worn. They’ve got a little heel and I got 10k steps in them without a blister. They’re also currently on sale – win!” – Madison Geros, Partnerships Manager
MOROCCANOIL Color Care Shampoo, $52, Sephora
MOROCCANOIL Color Care Conditioner, $52, Sephora
“This isn’t the first MOROCCANOIL shampoo and conditioner I’ve tried but it’s the one that’s impressed me the most. The Color Care range does exactly what it says – after just one use, I noticed my blonde highlights looked brighter, more vibrant and less brassy. Score! My locks also felt super soft afterwards.” - Marina Tatas, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
innisfree Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream 50ml, $39, Adore Beauty
“If there’s one beauty item I can’t live without, it would be the innisfree Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream. It’s super moisturising and brightening, and I can see my skin look noticeably more fresh within a day. I’ve even travelled with it as my sole skincare product and still managed to maintain great skin on the trip.” – Tahnee-Jae Lopez-Vito, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
Bunjie Baby Bubble Bath 500ml, $9.49 (down from $15.99), Chemist Warehouse
“My toddler is obsessed with bubbles so when we finally got a bath it was only natural to invest in a baby bubble bath. I’d heard that Bunjie was great for sensitive skin and it’s also very affordable at under $10 for 500ml. Her skin hasn’t reacted to it at all and she now always asks for ‘bubbles’ when we draw a bath. Something to keep in mind is that it requires a decent amount to get the bubbles really going but I don’t mind this as it means you can control the amount of bubbles you make.” - Stephanie Yip, eCommerce Travel Writer
BAOYUN Valet Tray, $28.04 at Amazon
“I bought the Baoyun Valet Tray for my husband for Father’s Day and it was a huge success. Just quietly, his side of the dressing table was in desperate need of organisation and this valet tray is just the thing with compartments for loose change, wallet, mobile, keys, cufflinks, glasses or whatever else he needs. It looks stylish with a smart leather look finish and keeps the dressing table neat and table. Not just a great Father’s Day gift but also a handy storage solution idea. Win-win!” – Susannah Hardy, Parenting Shopping Writer
Mechanical White Backlit Gaming Keyboard, $54.99, Amazon
Razer DeathAdder Essential Wired Gaming Mouse, $44, Amazon
“As a casual gamer, I looked into upgrading my desk set up to be better equipped for my games but I, of course, didn’t want to break the bank – so I took to Amazon Australia (like many of us on a budget do) and found this gaming keyboard and mouse.
I’m very particular about my desk theme and if the photo wasn’t obvious, I’m going for a sleek pink and white aesthetic, so this keyboard and mouse were perfect. While I did snap them up just for the looks, they’re actually incredibly good for both gaming and work.
The MageGee Mechanial Gaming Keyboard is a wired 100 per cent model and it’s customisable – you can change the backlight style and mix and match the keycaps (it comes with blue keycaps and a keycap puller). Plus, It’s very clicky which I personally like and just very cute – which is hard to find!
Razer is known for their good quality gaming accessories so I’m not surprised that I love the Razer Deathadder Essential Mouse as much as I do. It has a white backlight and a changeable 6400 DPI Optical Sensor which allows for fast and precise movement. The changeable DPI is ideal especially for FPS (first-person-shooter) games as these games are typically fast paced. It’s also very smooth to use. So if you’re a new gamer, I would highly recommend these two products for your first gaming set up!
If you’re not a fan of the pink and white set up, the keyboard is available in Black & Grey and White & Blue and the mouse is available in Black.” – Harriet Amurao, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
