Let’s face it, our mums deserve more than just one day a year to celebrate them.

From bringing us into the world, to feeding and caring for us (especially during those ahem, moody teenager years although I’m definitely not speaking from experience), they deserve the best.

And Mother’s Day isn’t just about biological mums — it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate any special mother figures you have in your life, whether it be your grandmother, aunt, cousin, older sister or just a friend that you know you can always lean on.

This Mother’s Day is extra meaningful for me as I prepare to give birth to my first child in just a few weeks’ time.

Pregnancy is special but also incredibly tough at times — hello, morning sickness — so I definitely have a new-found appreciation for my mum, especially as I’m about to birth a watermelon-sized newborn.

As we all know “nothing” isn’t actually an acceptable Mother’s Day present (no matter how many times they tell you it is), so myself and the rest of the news.com.au checkout team have come together to share what we’d buy our mums from Adore Beauty.

Adore Beauty not only has a great range of top beauty brands but it’s also got speedy shipping which is perfect if you leave buying a present until the last minute.

Top picks include the Dyson Supersonic that gives you “noticeably thicker, smoother and shinier”.

Plus there’s the “gorgeous” Elizabeth Arden retinol capsules that has hundreds of five star reviews from shoppers who say it “worked wonders” and “makes my skin feel like silk”.

Jules Sebastian is also a fan, calling it a “non negotiable” for having “nourished and smooth” skin in a sponsored video about the product on Instagram.

Every Adore Beauty order also comes with a Tim Tam, meaning that you (kind of) get a present too.

“I’ve seen the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum in my mum’s bathroom cabinet for as long as I can remember, so it’s an absolute no-brainer that I’ll be restocking it for her this Mother’s Day. She likes to take care of her skin, but isn’t about the 10-step skincare routine like me. That’s where this best selling serum comes in – it’s super hydrating, can be used morning and night and is incredible at plumping the skin and providing a bunch of anti-ageing benefits. A must try if you haven’t already!”

“Like many mums, my mum is a huge fan of Elizabeth Arden so this Mother’s Day, I’m adding this Elizabeth Arden Retinol 60pc Capsules Set to cart. Valued at over $250 but costing only $160, it has four of her faves – Retinol Ceramide serum capsules, Light Ceramide Serum Capsules, a Purifying Cream Cleanser, and a Ceramide Lift and Firm Night Cream. I know she’ll love it as they’re not only products she uses herself but that’s her night-time routine sorted.”

Recreation Beauty UNDONE EDP 12ml, $49 at Adore Beauty

“I’m a big fan of Recreation Beauty — their fragrance THIS LOVE OF MINE is one of my all-time favourite perfumes and by far my most complimented scent. The company is based out of Sydney’s Bondi Beach and is all about creating clean, all natural fragrances that still smell sophisticated. I love their latest fragrance UNDONE and as soon as I smelt it I knew it would make the perfect present for my mum. It’s a more mature scent with top notes of fig leaf and bitter orange complimented by amber, cedarwood and praline. It’s just the kind of fragrance I know my mum would wear on a night out but it’s also not overpowering.”

“Aesop is always my go-to for when I’m not sure what to get my mum. Sometimes she can be hard to buy for because she has a distinct sense of style but she’s a big fan of Aesop so I know whatever I give her she will love. This set comes with the best-selling hand wash and hand balm and helps add that little bit of luxury to every day.”

“My mum absolutely loves L’Occitane’s Immortelle Divine Cream, so this Mother’s Day I’m planning on treating her to the matching Eye Balm. Like the Divine Cream, the Divine Eye Balm is a gentle cream product that’s meant to help with the signs of ageing, as well as with puffiness, firmness and dark circles. While it is on the pricier side, my mum claims the Divine Cream is one of the few products that has visibly improved her skin in her 60s, making the eye cream a product I’m happy to splurge on.”

Dyson Supersonic Bright Nickel/Bright Copper HD07, $649 at Adore Beauty

“My mum recently bought the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and has been obsessed with it ever since. Her hair is very fine and often frizzy with random curly strands, but this tool makes her locks look noticeably thicker, smoother and shinier. She has even swapped out her straightener for the anti-flyaway hair attachment (which is basically a mini curved ‘flat iron’), helping save her time in the morning.

I have thick, coarse and stubborn straight hair and immediately fell in love with the hair dryer after trying it myself. I love how it’s so quiet and lightweight, and doesn’t get super hot to use. The magnetic attachments are a bonus.

I know the Airwrap has been getting all the attention lately, but honestly this Dyson dryer is just as great. Plus, it’s way more affordable.”

“I really wish I could tell you Oribe was one of those expensive brands that wasn’t worth the money, however, it’s actually one of the few haircare lines that is so worth forking out on. My hairdresser put me onto their Bright Blonde range and it’s hands-down the best shampoo-conditioner for blonde hair. It’s gentle enough on your colour to use as your regular shampoo-conditioner, doesn’t weigh your hair down and smells incredible. I’ve run out and desperately need a top-up, so if my fiance is looking for some gift inspo (hint, hint) for my first Mother’s Day, consider this a sign.”
