When Lorna Jane Active first launched its Flashdance Pant back in 2005, chances are you either had a pair or knew someone that did.
The loose-fitting bootleg pants were one of the activewear brand’s bestsellers for years and are now making a comeback amid a resurgence in early 2000s fashion (you can buy them here for $79.99).
But unlike low-rise jeans and ugg boots (which we’re still on the fence about), this is a noughties trend we can definitely get behind.
In a TikTok video fashion influencer Jacquie Alexander wears the pants in black, styling them with an oversized grey blazer and white tee, trench coat and a cropped singlet.
The video has since been viewed more than 56,000 times and left shoppers raving about how the pants “fit with everything” from casual to smart wear — they’re definitely not just pants to only wear to the gym anymore.
At $79.99 they’re also much cheaper than similar versions from other brands and come in both navy and black.
“Oh my god I need those pants,” one person commented.
“I used to make fun of them, but now I kinda want them,” another wrote.
“They are the most comfortable pants, I wear them everyday,” one person who bought them attested.
Another TikTok user @sarahcrocslay posted a video explaining she how she had purchased the pants after seeing them go viral on the app.
“I want some comfy pants — love my sweat pants and that, they’re more for comfy indoor wear,” she said.
Trying them on, @sarahcrocslay said she “didn’t normally like low rise stuff”, but was convinced after trying on the Flashdance Pant.
“Oh my gosh, this are like my new favourite pants,” she said. “Now I have to get them in all colours.”
After going viral on TikTok Lorna Jane Active experienced “overwhelming” demand from shoppers, selling out in several sizes.
Lorna Jane Active has since had sizes XXS, XS and S air freighted in and has opened a pre-sale for these sizes, a spokeswoman told news.com.au.
Since January, Lorna Jane Active has sold more than 10,000 pairs of the Flashdance Pant, with one pair selling roughly every 10 minutes.
The brand has sold a whopping 156,364 pairs of the Flashdance pant since 2017 — proving they’re definitely making a comeback.
