The cost of living is rising and naturally there’s a few things I’ve had to give up on – my biweekly nail appointments, buying lunch when I’m in the office and so forth.

If you’re a skincare fanatic like me, you’ve either tried the brand’s iconic Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum in the pretty blue bottle, or you’ve seen someone use it.
So when I was offered the chance to try the new Ageless Hyaluronic Serum, I was very excited.
Think of it as an extension to their already best-selling Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum, with the new product incorporating the same hydrating benefits with some extra little magic to make your skin seriously glow.
And it looks like the Esmi Skin Minerals crowd is loving it too. The serum completely sold out within 48 hours and has consistently ranked in the top five best selling products since launching in March.
Five star reviews say the serum is “magic” and a “holy grail” for skin, leaving their face “so dewy and plump” after use.

THE FORMULATION
If you’re looking for a simple way to increase hydration in your skincare routine, then you’re going to want to be using hyaluronic acid.
Inspired by Esmi Skin Minerals’ best selling Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum (you’ll know the blue bottle when you see it), the brand new Ageless Hyaluronic Serum is for those looking for hydration, while also keen to address anti-ageing skin concerns. So much so that it’s been named the “anti-ageing secret you’ve been waiting for” by Esmi Skin Minerals.
The serum is formulated with a bunch of active ingredients that work hard to counteract ageing, while also keeping your skin hydrated, soft and bouncy.
Evette Hess, founder of Esmi Skin Minerals, said it was “quite exciting designing a hyaluronic specifically focusing on drier, ageing skin”.
“We designed it to incorporate some well known existing ingredients like our high molecular weight hyaluronic, great for plumping, hydrating and firming from deep in the cells to the superficial layer of the skin as well as some new ones like Acetyl hexapeptide-8 which is a fabulous ingredient,” she told news.com.au.
Let’s deep dive into the ingredients and see exactly what I’ve been putting on my face everyday for the past month.
It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, which can hold 1000x its weight in water, helping to increase hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Watermelon extract and silymarin both provide unique antioxidant properties, while also helping to plump and restore your skin’s barrier function.
Finally you’ve got something called acetyl hexapeptide 8, which is just a bunch of peptides that have water-binding properties and skin-restoring abilities to give you a youthful glow.
While the Ageless Hyaluronic Serum is targeted more towards drier skin, it can be enjoyed by all skin types. It’s also safe to use if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, is vegan and cruelty-free and is made right here in Australia.
THE APPLICATION
Upon first application, and one of the main things I love about this serum, is you immediately notice how lightweight it feels. It’s a waster-based, gel consistency – it kind of looks like jelly – that absorbs quickly into the skin, which is great if you’re in a rush in the morning.
The gorgeous pink serum comes out in a dropper and I tend to use about two droppers for my whole face, every single morning.
How does it fit into my skincare routine? While you can use it morning or night, I’ve been using the hydrating properties for my morning product line-up. So I’ll start off by splashing my face with water, mist my skin with a toner, apply a vitamin C serum, follow up with the Ageless Hyaluronic Serum and then locking it all in with a brightening eye cream, face moisturiser and SPF.
HOW IT WEARS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND UNDER MAKEUP?
There’s nothing worse than trying a new facial serum with your usual skincare and makeup routine and noticing something has gone a little haywire.
Thankfully, that did not occur when I used the Ageless Hyaluronic serum. It layered beautifully with the rest of my routine and didn’t cause any of my products to pill – score!
HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE ORIGINAL FORMULA?
The original formula – the Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum – has over 1600 five-star ratings on the Esmi Skin Minerals website, and has an average rating of a whopping 4.9 out of five. That’s a whole lot of love!
The hard-to-miss bright blue bottle offers a weightless gel texture and is supercharged with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to support your skin barrier.
According to Esmi Skin Minerals, one is sold every two minutes and is consistently the brand’s top selling product every single day.
After trying both the original Hydrating and the Ageless, I can honestly say they both deserve a spot in your skincare routine if hydration is important to you.
“Both contain the queen of hyaluronic acid so you’ll see a huge, visible difference in the hydration levels of your skin,” Evette said.
The Original Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum is suitable for anyone starting off with skincare, and targets dehydration, balances the skin and assists in healing, strengthening and repairing. The new Ageless Hyaluronic Serum also targets dehydration, but also works hard to firm and plump the skin, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and assists in collagen production.
I don’t have a personal favourite – I feel like they both shine in their own unique ways, and Esmi Skin Minerals confirms you can easily fit both into your skincare routine.
As I said, I’ve been using the serum every morning but if you did want to incorporate both Esmi products into your skincare routine, I would recommend using the original in the morning and saving the new serum for your evening skincare routine. That way, the anti-ageing properties can work their magic while you sleep.
IS THE NEW AGELESS HYALURONIC SERUM WORTH IT?
In short, yes.
I think the Ageless Hyaluronic Serum is worth your attention – it’s hydrating, while still offering anti-ageing benefits and is an absolute delight to use each and every day.
It’s targeted more towards those over the age of 30, but this isn’t a strict number.
I’m on the brink of turning 26 and while I don’t have any noticeable wrinkles, I do like to use this serum everyday to keep my skin plump, bouncy and looking youthful. I like to think of it as a preventive approach to skincare.
