Cate Blanchett’s threesome confession on Ellen and wild Oscars night after winning Best Actress
CATE Blanchett appeared on Ellen’s talk show today and revealed that her husband wasn’t the only man in her bed after a big night at the Oscars.
GOLDEN girl Cate Blanchett has admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that she slept next to two men last night - her husband and her Oscar statue.
Sounding a little hoarse on Ellen’s talk show just one day after winning the Oscar for Best Actress at the 86th annual Academy Awards, Blanchett joked, “It’s the closest that my husband and I have ever come to a threesome.”
The Aussie star — who won for her role in Blue Jasmine — told Ellen that she was relieved to win the award after being the clear frontrunner.
“I was so stressed,” Blanchett admitted.
“I don’t think I drank that much last night but it was such a release of adrenaline. We’d spoken about me coming on the show, and I thought, ‘What if I don’t win? I mean I’m going to have to steal one.’”
The actress also revealed that she can’t remember what she said during her acceptance speech, but it was what she said in the press room immediately after her win that made headlines overnight.
Blanchett must have been too excited to eat at the Oscar’s after parties. She told Ellen she and husband Andrew Upton stopped for something to eat on the way home. Kebab anyone?
Riding high after her big victory, the Melbourne-born actress had earlier dropped the F-bomb during a live press conference on CNN.
Blanchett let the F-word slip after an Australian journalist pointed out that she was the first Aussie actor to win two Academy Awards.
The Oscar winner wryly responded, “And don’t you f-----g forget it,” as the room erupted in laughter.
Earlier during her emotion-filled acceptance speech, Cate urged producers to make more films with women as the lead. She also thanked controversial director Woody Allen “for casting me” and gave a shout-out to her beloved Sydney Theatre Company.
But not before she hilariously motioned to fellow nominee Julia Roberts and jokingly said: “To Julia, hashtag suck it!” Blanchett explained that the reference was in regards to private joke the two shared earlier in the bar but would not elaborate further.
Speaking of Julia, it was lucky that Blanchett was even around to accept her award, telling E! that she almost missed her big moment because she was having a drink with the Hollywood heavyweight.
“I was with Julia Roberts at the bar for rather too long and I just got back to my seat in time,” Blanchett said.
Other big winners on the night were Matthew McConaughey for his role in Dallas Buyer’s Club while the Brad Pitt-produced film 12 Years A Slave won the Oscar for Best Picture.
Host Ellen DeGeneres dished out the jokes, transforming the night into one of the most enjoyable awards ceremonies in recent memory.
