A MAN accused of murdering a man by setting him on fire has appeared in a Darwin court.
Darin Andrew Clare, 37, appeared barefoot and wearing shorts and a T-shirt before magistrate Greg Smith.
Detectives today charged Clare over the death of a 60-year-old in Darwin on Saturday night.
At about 8.30pm (CST), police, fire and ambulance units allegedly converged on a home at Coolalinga, on Darwin's outskirts, in response to a report that a man had been set on fire.
It has been alleged Clare doused the man with fuel, then set him alight.
A female neighbour of the dead man reportedly jumped a fence to go to his aid, but he died yesterday.
Clare has been charged with one count of murder and another of failing to rescue or provide help.
In a brief hearing today, Clare was remanded in custody until August 22.
