POLICE have charged several people after seizing a large quantity of illegal drugs at the Future Music Festival.

POLICE have charged several people after seizing a large quantity of illegal drugs at the Future Music Festival, and have issued more than 100 people with notices to appear in court, mainly for drug possession.

Yesterday's event at Randwick Racecourse attracted an estimated 40,000 people, and police mounted a high-visibility operation targeting anti-social behaviour, alcohol-fuelled crime and illegal drug use and supply.

Police say they searched 341 people and seized hundreds of tablets believed to be illegal drugs, quantities of the drug GHB, amphetamines and cannabis.

One man allegedly caught with 500 pills was charged with drug supply and remains in custody. Nine others have been charged with offences from drug supply to offensive behaviour, and another 117 have been issued notices to appear in court at a later date, mostly for drug possession.
