You call that art? Kim Kardashian shows off her unique Christmas gift from Kanye West

KANYE'S one-of-a-kind Christmas present to Kim Kardashian would have cost him a small fortune, but fans are less than impressed with the "ugly and offensive" gift.

IT'S no secret Kanye West has been trying to educate Kim Kardashian on all things fashion and art since they've been an item, but this latest accessory is simply grotesque.

The rapper went all out for Kim's Christmas present this year, surprising his fiance with a customised handbag featuring a painting of several nude figures. The handpainted creation is the work of famous artist George Condo.

The reality TV star posted a snap of her gift on Instagram, gushing over the one-of-a-kind Hermes Birkin bag.

The famous pair stepped out in LA for a spot of post-Christmas shopping on Thursday, with Kim proudly swinging her enormous tan tote for all to see.

But while the 33-year-old mum seems stoked with the gift, fans took to Instagram to express their dislike.

"Will she really take this out in public or convince him its art to stay indoors? ugly offensive art for a purse, wth Hermes, u failed (sic)", one user commented.

"Sorry but that bag is ugly and should not be carried in public!!!! (sic)", another wrote.

Condo is a close friend of Kanye's and the contemporary artist previously collaborated with him to create several portraits for his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

While the total cost of the luxe item isn't known, a Hermes Birkin the size of Kim's retails for around $US16,000. Add to this that one of Condo's paintings, The Manhattan Strip Club, sold at auction last year for a whopping $1.3 million and you've got yourself one pricey Christmas present.
