World No. 1 Ash Barty puts comeback on hold

Australian Open champ Ash Barty has delayed her return to tennis, declaring her “body has not recovered” enough to resume at the Indian Wells tournament.
The world No.1 has withdrawn from the two biggest non-majors of the year in the US after also ruling herself out of an event in Miami, which she has won twice.
Barty hasn’t played since her epic Australian Open triumph in January and the three-time grand slam champion is now targeting a comeback for Australia at the Billie Jean King Cup in April.
I wanted to share an update on my schedule for the coming months. Unfortunately my body has not recovered the way I’d hoped after the Australian Open and I have not been able to adequately prepare for Indian Wells and Miami.

Barty, said it had been a “tough few weeks” in Australia and sent all her thoughts to those battling floods in her home state of Queensland and the fighting in Ukraine.
