'Absolute crap': afl's concussion stance under fire

AFL

David King

Two-time North Melbourne premiership player David King has called on the game to do more to combat head trauma following Tom Stewart’s brutal bump on Dion Prestia.

Stewart was referred directly to the AFL Tribunal for his hit on Prestia, which left the Richmond star concussed and in a worrying state as he was assisted from the ground by trainers.

Speaking on Fox Footy’s First Crack, King said too much focus in the time since had been on the welfare of Stewart rather than the long-term implications on Prestia’s health.

King is of the belief Match Review Officer Michael Christian has not taken head trauma seriously during his time in the role.

King implored the AFL to “have a look” at what this type of serious head contact was doing to players.
