buckley makes call on vacant bombers role

Collingwood legend Nathan Buckley has ruled himself out of the Essendon coaching race as the Bombers begin their search after brutally parting ways with Ben Rutten.
Essendon on Sunday confirmed Rutten’s sacking to cap off a horror week after its 11th-hour pursuit of Alastair Clarkson backfired badly when he instead opted to join North Melbourne.
The Bombers’ season then ended in a 66-point loss to Richmond, leaving Essendon 15th on the ladder with seven wins in a dramatic drop off from last year.
The Bombers are now searching for a senior coach to take over the club. Asked by Demons great Garry Lyon on Fox Footy if he’d take their phone call, Buckley said: “No.”
Buckley, however, said he would happily give the Bombers some advice as they try to bring success back to the club.
