House of the Dragon tells the story of the murderous, dragon-breeding Targaryen family, some 300 years before the events of Thrones.

Paddy Considine plays King Viserys Targaryen, who’s good and wise. The series is set at the apex of the Targaryen dynasty’s power with three  factions manoeuvring for the throne.
The younger brother of King Viserys and heir to the throne, Daemon is a fearsome warrior and dragon rider. But the real power struggle will actually be between two women...
Viserys’s first-born child and heir, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is a dragonrider of pure Valyrian blood. Unfortunately she was not born a man.
Alicent Hightower is the new wife of King Viserys and daughter of the King’s Hand, Otto (played by Rhys Ifans). Like Rhaenyra, she wants to be first lady of the realm.
With a rumoured budget of close to $20 million for each episode, it’s going to look good. The showrunners are Ryan J Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.
