Tourism operators and destinations are joining the fight against single-use plastic as part of the World Wildlife Fund’s Plastic Smart Cities initiative .Go plastic free and consider these destinations.

As the world’s first Plastic Smart City, there’s lots to admire about Amsterdam’s groundbreaking anti-plastic initiatives including a plastic-free supermarket aisle.

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

WWF is working in island communities where, without a waste management system, locals were accustomed to burning rubbish or throwing it into the ocean, to set up new processes.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam

The city has banned single-use plastic cups, cutlery, straws, bags, cleaning and personal hygiene products, and it's set an ambitious goal of reducing its plastic waste by 55 per cent by 2025.

DUBROVNIK, CROATIA

The night markets banned single-use plastic bags in 2020, meaning visitors and locals now need to bring their own bags. Styrofoam and single-use plastics are also banned from Thai national parks.
