TOP Dark sky destinations for stargazing CLOSE TO HOME

You don’t have to be an astronomy nerd to appreciate a night under the stars – in fact, dark-sky tourism has been growing in recent years.

In Australia alone, three internationally recognised Dark Sky Places have been certified since 2016, with new tours catering to growing demand.

Here are the the top spots to check out in Australia and New Zealand

Named a Dark Sky Park in 2016, its appearance in TV series Stargazing Live locked in its stellar status. Spend a night in one of the park campgrounds.

Warrumbungle National Park, NSW

One of 15 Dark Sky Sanctuaries in the world , the Jump Up is home to Winton’s Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. You can also stay on site.
